Still no internet at home. But that’s not what this post relates to.

I found the following notice stuck to my car today. This is the first and only notice I have received:

ATTENTION: The Owner of this Vehicle

I wish to advise you of the action that will be taken by the Body Corporate against you as a result of your continued by-law breaching.

The Proprietor or Occupier of your Lot will be issued with a Notice of Breach of By-Laws, for each offence committed from this week.

After a second Notice has been issued, the Executive Committee of the Body Corporate will instruct the Managing Agent for the Body Corporate (DPS) to issue a “Letter to Comply”.

If you continue to break the By-Law, the Executive Committee will instruct DPS to apply to the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (CTTT), Strate & Communicty Schemes Division, for a pentaly to be applied.

The Proprietor or Occupier of your Lot may be required to attend a hearing at the CTTT. The CTTT has the power to impose penalties up to $5,000 for offenders that continually breach By-Laws. An adjudicator will hear the case, consider the matters raised by both parties and make an order.

You may wish to seek legal advise on this matter if you choose..

Signed,

Some beurocratic dick.

For starters, if this is a repeat offence, where the hell were my first notices?! Secondly, they’re going to take me to COURT for parking next to my own fucking HOUSE? Because THEY don’t provide any parking! It’s bullshit. Fucking bullshit. I’m angry. In fact as soon as I calm down I’m writing them a letter. This is fucking bullshit.

Well, the internet at home is turned off. iPrimus have disconnected us and it will be days until iiNet connect us back on. It’s a strange sensation. I don’t like it.

Fortunately I have Angela’s broadband to steal for a while 🙂

The jury is in

Well, my wisdom teeth, although not painful, haven’t quite grown properly and they’re not overlapping the way they’re meant to and they’re causing me to do damage in my cheeks. So I gotta get em out. Had the x-rays done today, but the dental surgeon isn’t in until end of June, so I’ll have to get it done then.

This is like, the most serious thing I’ve ever had to have had done. I guess I’m pretty lucky I spose. But its still not going to be much fun.

Clerks II & Obernewtyn

Clerks 2 Trailer

It better be good or I’ll be sad 🙁

Also, a link to one of the poorest designed websites I’ve seen in a while (here) heralds some fantastic news:

… The Sending (final Obernewtyn instalment) will be out mid-2006. Darkbane (third instalment in the Legendsong series) will be released after that

I better not be dissapointed by that news either as I have been waiting nigh on 7 years for the last Obernewtyn book (Nadine probably has too if she’s still interested in them), and I’ve been waiting about 3 years for the last Darkfall book. In fact, I’ve just finished re-reading all my Obernewtyn books. And most people who know me may know that I choose my alter-ego screennames based around Obernewtyn (in fact I used that exact name for a while).

And that’s my news for the day. I’m off to the dentist in about an hour and I’m still waiting on my RAM to arrive from Grays. Oh I also bought Dad a laptop from Grays. Absolute bargain.

Why am I doing this?

You Are a Blueberry Margarita

Honestly, there’s no one quite like you. And believe it or not, most people think that’s a bad thing!
You’re open, wild, friendly, wacky, and tons of fun. You have a big personality… and a big heart.
What Flavor Margarita Are You?

I can’t believe I did that. I feel like I’m 14 years old again. And that’s not a good feeling. Kris I blame you.

The most manly thing

Filed under: General - Mark @ 12:15 pm

I was thinking the other day about what I reckon the most manly thing you can do is these days. I came up with my answer pretty quickly. I’ll tell you what it is in a minute. And I’ll of course justify my decision.

I think the most manly thing that a guy can do these days is change the water bottle on the water cooler. I mean those big 20L things. Now, bear with me here. I have my reasons for choosing this.

The first and foremost reason for this is that it’s polite. There’s nothing more annoying than going to get water and just getting a tiny little dribble, then having to change the bottle and then the water is warm so you may as well have just gone to the tap, and now you have to wait for five minutes while it chills the water again. So by changing the water bottle when you see that it’s empty, you’re peforming a service to the greater good.

Seconly, it’s a chivalrous action and gesture. None of the women in our office can change the water bottle, for a variety of reasons, but mainly because they just don’t know how. They just tug on it in an upwards fashion and when it doesn’t come off they give up. By performing this task, it means that the women do not have to and therefor it’s just darn polite, and you never know, maybe it’ll help you bang the receptionist.

Thirdly, it’s a show of strength. Those damn bottles are heavy, and you have to not only lift it a fair distance, you also have to manipulate it while it’s in the air, upside down, so that you don’t fuck it up and look like a tool.

It’s also shows that you are healthy. Chicks love health nuts, and you’re drinking water! What more could they want! No calories, no fat, plenty of energy and hydration. Better than that Fanta in the fridge that’s not yours but looks very inviting. They don’t have to know that you’re getting the water to sooth the burning from that hot chilli pizza with extra chilli’s that you’re eating, and that you’ll be gasious for the next five hours.

Finally, it’s a very sexual thing. “WTF” I hear you say? Well, think about it! There’s just something about seeing that prong on the top pierce the tightly sealed cave holding all that goodness and then watching it flow out, with the prong nestled deeply inside the neck of the bottle. Don’t make me spell it out for you, please.

When I ran this idea past Kris he said “u fucking removed a half loaded core switch u nut case” (which is a big piece of computer equipment that weights about 80kg), but thats not manly, thats nerdy and desperate. To which he replied “drilling a pump is manly”. This is true, but it’s just a show of physical prowress. It’s not chivalrous or polite. In fact its smelly and loud. And we have machines for doing that.

See thats the thing. For something to be manly, truly manly in that it helps you pick up chicks, its not hot fast cars (they’re rude and obnoxious), it’s not being strong (although thats useful for showing off to your mates), it’s not being a good clubber or dancer (unless you’re gay), it’s not being a body builder (thats really gay, just take a look at the current guys on Big Brother). You need to be polite. Chivalrous. Care about others. Do things for others. Do nice things. And as you can see, this is all achieved by changing the water bottle on the water cooler. I rest my case.

24Mb Goodness

Filed under: General - Mark @ 10:18 am

Well, we’ve finally signed up for iiNet’s ADSL-2 24Mbps plan, 10gb peak, 10gb off-peak. I’d have preferred the 20/20 plan but hey, this one was substantially cheaper. It should be enabled by this time next week. Here’s to hoping!! 😀

Not so GBness

Filed under: General - Mark @ 2:57 pm

Ohh I think I was a big over-eager in my last post. I’m pretty sure that the 2048 refers to a 2048 KIT, meaning that it’s 4x 512Mb. Still, at that price it’s a bargain. Kris is bidding on a puter at the same auction place (Grays Online) and it looks like he’s having better luck this time around. Last time some over-zelous bidder out-bid him in the last few minutes and he didn’t get the email to say he was outbid until it was too late. Good luxors Chris, 3 minutes to go!

GBness

Filed under: General - Mark @ 3:16 pm

I think I just got the absolute bargain of the century. I think I just bought 8gb of RAM for my Opterons for under 200 bucks.

I bid on a Grays Online auction for “KTD-PE6400/2048 KIT OF 4 MEMORY MODULE”, and the picture of each stick of ram has 2048 written on it. I thought that meant 4x 512 (=2048Mb), but I think it means 4x 2gb (=8192Mb). I could be wrong, but either way it was a bargain, but I really really really hope it’s 4x 2gb!

Bloody bats

Filed under: General - Mark @ 10:26 am

Man I hate parking at work. There’s about a half-dozen carparks that are not under any trees, and they’re always full. For a very good reason. After dark the trees come alive with bats, which isn’t so much of a problem, except when they

1) Poo on your car
2) Land on your car

My boot is covered in little white scratches from where they’ve tried to land on my car, but the worst one is the poo. Its very acidic and if it’s on your car for more than a few hours it leaves a permanant stain. I have to wash my car every week now, even if its not dirty, just to get rid of the bat poo.

I wonder if I can ask them to do anything about it…
